Ten days into 2012. Realized I hadn't update this blog. I started another blog--where I answer the question" What did we do today??" Simple. But as the years go by...I remember less and less....figured it would be a cool project. Will eventually print and have it as a keepsake. Will still blog here alittle too...just to focus more on Joshua's growth and development. He is almost 21 months. He is beoming more and more of a "big boy"..he wants to feed himself, put on his own hat, and even goes to get a diaper when he is dirty.

Dec. 22nd went to Louisville for game...lost but had a lot of FUN!! Several people saw us on TV! Chilled around the house Christmas Eve. Opened gifts and had breakfast with Jake on Christmas morning. The kids and I headed to ATL around 2....had a wonderful 3 days....took pictures (of course)--had a party Dec.26---Richards family came--played games--really fun!! Joshua is continuing to develop his vocabulary...he understands almost everything...uses about 12-15 words consistently. He just learned NO, NO! He is adorable and made the holidays BRIGHTER for everyone!!!

Found a wonderful photographer Angela Crutcher--she participates in Celebration Adoption program...basically a free photo shoot for any family who adopts...had scheduled an appointment way back in March with a photographer in Miami...but with the move and everything it never happened. So anyway, back in Sept. we met Angela in Nashville....the pictures came out soo great. Purchased some...gotta get them framed. Next we have to take our annual kids Christmas card picture--going to Sears. And then in the Spring I am determined to get a beautiful family picture that we can get on canvas and hang in the living room. LOVE my FAMILY!!! LOVE pictures of my BEAUTIFUL family!! THANK YOU LORD!!!

Had a game on Wednesday...the kids and I got up and left for Smyrna around 9 on Thursday morning. Easy drive--4 hours door to door. Hung out, ate alot, ran my 4th 5K!!! Joshua danced and kept everyone entertained all weekend. Took the big kids to Stone Mountain--Pam Pam watched Joshua---they always have a good time together! Got back late Sunday night--traffic was ridiculous--took hours to get home---rained the whole way. THANK GOD for safe travel!!

Joshua is still adorable even with a stye(or star as Jake calls it) on his cute lil eye!

Time seems to have sped up. Thanksgiving is NEXT week!! WOW! Joshua went to new doctor yesterday. Got his medical records/immunizations from UM Pediatrics. Joshua didn't like the doctor---he refused to get on the scale. I had to step on with him...turns out he is:

19 Months
29lbs
33.5 inches

Couldn't measure his head because he wouldn't let nurse put tape measure on him. He still has a stye--been there over a month--so he had to get prescriptions for oral antibiotics and eye drops. Alexis and Jalen have to help me hold him down to put drops in....very hard. The doctor suggested warm compresses....but we have tried that and he just won't keep them on his eye.

Well, life in Bowling Green is continuing to go well. LOVE my gym and BSF class. Jalen has his first basketball practice tonight for city rec league. Alexis is in Club Red--cheerleading club. She is quite busy...yesterday she was at school from 7:30 am to 8:00pm. She seems to really enjoy it!
Jake is in Charleston for basketball tourney. We are 1-1 so far this season. Looks like the team has a lot of work to do to rebuild this program...just PRAYING that we have a successful year!!! God's GOT IT!!!

Weather here in BG is nice...it had gotten COLD last week---had to go get big kids coats--I had picked up 2 coats for Joshua a month ago at a cosignment sale at a local church. Also got Josh some cute hats---but he HATES wearing them!
SO this past weekend we went to Atlanta for Deliverance Conference...missed most of it--because didn't want to pull kids out of school....but we attend Prayer Breakfast and spent some nice time at the house just chillin'.
Joshua has had a stye for a couple of weeks...he will not hold still for me to put ointment in or put warm compress on his eye. He will FINALLY have his 18 month wellness checkup in 2 weeks--he will actually be 19 months....apparently wellness visits book fast here....gotta get his shot records from pediatrician in Miami.
Since it is pretty nice we will take Joshua out Trick or Treating later on this evening. October is OVER! WOW! Claiming November will be the BEST month so far this year! Victory is MINE!!!!

WOW! Joshua is 18months already!! We are settling nicely into life in BG. Joshua loves going to Music class, BSF and the gym...he plays HARD! He doesn't cry anymore when I drop him off. He is sooo CUTE!! Everyone LOVES his hair!

TO celebrate his 18month bday...we had a spaghetti dinner...Joshua LOVES spaghetti...we went to Bruster's for ice cream. Joshua got his own Dino sundae....kinda a waste of money..he didn't eat much...but we took cute pictures of him making a big mess!!! I ordered him a Fisher Price basketball goal...he LOVES basketball...and always says "ball" and points outside.....soo cute!!

Joshua LOVES basketball already! We have a goal in the driveway---Joshua stands at the window with the ball wanting to go out and "shoot". Jalen says basketball is "his life"....so cute that he and Josh share the passion. Took them to the court--Joshua's first time...he is now 17.5 months. He is RUNNING! He is pointing....he says BYE BYE...and Hi....he communicates nonverbally very well... I am sure the words are coming soon.

Too sad. Too shocked. Too numb. I am in a cloud of grief. Still trying to put on foot in front of the other. Moving to BG has been good so far. The kids are doing great in their new schools. Joshua is now 17 months!! He is taking Musickarten....mommy and me music class---he loves it! I have joined a gym-- so he goes to daycare there..he is very clingy to me....but that is typical at this age. He cries when I drop him in daycare at gym---but each time he gets better--and ends up playing nicely. Joshua hair is super long and CURLY---he is soo cute! He gets alot of attention wherever we go! He is very attached to Jake and sometimes cries in the morning when daddy leaves for work. Still not talking---but babbles alot--and we can tell he understands alot of words....he is constantly imitating us---soo cute! Joshua is a LIGHT in all of all lives!!

Well we made it to Atlanta....then Joshua and I went to BG and spent the weekend with Jake....signed our lease...saw the kids schools....really like the city! Everything is soo close to our house...so excited about an easier, slower paced lifestyle! We left Atlanta and spent the night in Valdosta last night...nice çourtyard Marriott....got up around 9 and drove to Orlando....World Center Marriott....nice. I have driven soooo many miles this summer....so thankful for traveling mercies....God is so Awesome! Looking forward to getting to Miami on Monday to supervise the packing/moving....not really excited about going back to Miami....but thrilled to finally be leaving for good!

Kids had a great week of camp last week! Joshua and I spent a lot of mommy/baby time....one day we got chicken wings and mambo sauce and went to eat them in Rock Creek Park. So nice....just driving through the old neighborhood....walking down memory lane. We enjoyed time time with the Burgess Lane cousins. Alexis had a wonderful day shopping with catherines friend Carol. Oh and earlier in the week...Jalen got to throw the first pitch out at a minor league baseball game in Bethesda! Sooo much fun packed into 2 weeks! Sooo blessed...Jake came back up to MD from MIA yesterday....had a family cookout and a date night yesterday. Looking forward to going back to Atlanta tomorrow.....where of course we will have even more FUN! I can't help but reflect on the fact that exactly 3 months ago topday all the crap started with coach tidbit and his lying wife......but OH GOD IS SO AWESOME! Had some down days....but trouble don't last always......and he will comfort u and keep u through the storm. Resting on HISv Promises....always

What a wonderful week we had....after getting back from Hershey Park...we slept in late Friday...and chilled. Saturday we went to Billys house....kids played. Maxine came over...we all spent the night. We got up and went to church for youth Sunday....very nice. Joshua got his first certificate....he was honored for mastering the art of walking! Alexis and J art of walking! Too cute! Had fellowship.....very nice seeing the Young's. We went back over Catherines.....Bubba and Evanda stopped by on their way back up to NY....so Joshua got to meet even more family! Kids start camp in the morning...they are excited. Having a wonderful summer....looking forward to Jake finding us a house so we can move to Bowling Green.....God is soo Awesome!!

What an awesome day. We are at Hershey Park with Catherine....and today I tool Joshua to see Jaime and the boys! Turns out Allentown is just an hour drive away from Hershey Lodge where we are staying. We visited at the house with Jaime and. We e boys and her mom. Then w e went to Red Robin....yummy! Jaime mentionred that today is the 22nd! We took tons of pictures....will upload and post more about the visit when I get to a computer. The big kids are having a ball at Hershey Park.....sooooo BLESSED!

Ok...how did I miss the entire month of May and half of June on this blog? Oops.....quick update...typing this on my phone....Jake got a J-O-B! God continues to BLESS us! We are headed to Bowling Green,KY! Joshua will not even remember living in Miami....lucky him-lol! Overall the past 4 years were wonderful. Had some really rough times...pretty much the entire 2009 year....but look at me now! My kids are happy and healthy....growing up sooo fast!
Joshua is walking! Missed blogging about it....we started a few days after turning 13 months!
We are currently in MD.....first drove to Atlanta.....went to Augusta.....then dropped Zari off in Charlotte and drove to Catherine's....LONG trip...but thank God for safe travels! Excited about spending some good times with family and friends!

Joshua is growing GREAT! He is 23.5 lbs---50 percentile. He is 31.5 inches tall--90 percentile...and his head is 18.5 inches. He had to get 3 shots. He was a trooper--although today (next day) he has been cranky. I have had to give him tylenol for fever.

Well, on the job front---still nothing definite for Jake yet---the past 3 weeks have been sooo LONG and quite an emotional roller coaster.....UP and then DOWN...hopeful and then ANGRY!! I KNOW THAT GOD WILL WORK IT OUT!!!!! I am trying to relax and not be anxious.....RESTING ON HIS PROMISES!!!!

What a Difference a week makes.....

CRAZY!!! Long story short---we are going to be moving!!! Jakes boss took new job...we may or may not be going to Missouri with him.....Jake is still interviewing for jobs. My prayer is that he will find the RIGHT job for him and our family will find a wonderful community to live in.
I have grown so much spiritually just this week....I have been praying and asking God for guidance and as ALWAYS God has ordered my steps! I am in awe of the goodness of GOD....this situation has been very challenging....but I am encouraged....so many people are praying for us! I know that it is all in DIVINE ORDER!!!
Hopefully in a few days I will know where we are going....and I can start focusing on getting ready to pack up. I honestly do not think I will miss Miami...although I do regret in 4 years never taking a cruise or going to the Bahamas.....looking forward to wearing winter clothes again!!!!
Joshua will not even remember living in Miami....before we go we will have to take him to the beach for photo shoot!!!
AS always...I am resting on HIS PROMISES!!!!

YAY!!! Less than 2 weeks after applying got Joshua's social security card in the mail!!! 9 days shy of his first bday--he is OFFICIALLY Joshua Alexander DeVeaux Morton--- long name for a VERY special boy!!!!

Once Jake gets back from Final Four we can go meet with accountant and file taxes--should be getting a nice refund---3 kids to claim!!!

Spring Break....(little late)

Just realized I never posted about Spring Break....we had a WONDERFUL trip. The kids and I drove to Ft. Lauderdale on Sat. March 12---Jake wasn't back from ACC tourney to give us a ride to the airport....found a long term parking lot. We flew to Atlanta---daddy and Clayton picked us up---went home and ate chinese food and chilled. We went to ohurch and then left for Columbus, GA the next day. The conference was nice....Alexis took pictures. The boys and I hung out--went to church on Jalen's bday---they surprised him with a cake. We went to play mini golf later that evening.

We left on Thursday the 17th--drove the Navigator back---love the car--hate the cost to keep gas in it....kids did pretty well on the ride back.

So blessed to have gotten to spend the time with mommy and daddy. We took some great pictures on Jalen's bday---right in back of the hotel---beautiful!!!

FINALLY got Joshua's Birth Certificate!!!

YAY! Almost 1 year later---we got Joshua's birth certificate!!! SOOO Happy! After bible study yesterday Josh and I went to Social Security Admin---very close to our house. He should have SSN within a week!! And then we can FINALLY file taxes and claim 3 kids!!!! WOW! What a blessing!!!!

Yay!!! Joshua is 11 months!!He is getting to be a BIG boy! He is crawling FAST and getting into EVERYTHING!! His hair is thicker---but still lays straight--unless I wet it....he is sooo YUMMY! He still gets up atleast 2 times a night---ugh--I am soo sleep deprived---thank GOD for my Starbucks frappacinos!

We had a another heart breaking loss today....lost to Clemson by 4....Joshua has been a trooper at the games---he usually falls asleep about half way through---despite my SCREAMING!! I have tried not to get too stressed out about the losses---but it is hard---this is our livelihood.....soo hoping we can win the last 4 games---and win 2 games in the ACC tourney---

Alexis and Jalen had their evalutaions for Spring basketball league---they are both excited---so Joshua and I will be in the stands cheering them on!!

Sunday evening....Joshua and Alexis are upstairs watching Disney....Jalen and I are watching NBA All Star game.....enjoying some down time.

Our BIG boy is on the MOVE...trying to crawl up the steps!! He is a SWEET baby! He loves Yo Gabba Gabba...he loves to play with computer cords and cell phones. He eats puffs, stage 3 baby food and I have even let him taste McDonald's french fries! He has 8 teeth--so he is CHEWING everything!!! He will probably be walking by his 1st birthday.

What a difference a year makes!! I remember last Superbowl Sunday--Jake had told me the social worker was coming to complete our homestudy update---thought it was odd that she would come on Superbowl Sunday. He had set up the appointment--not sure why she didn't call me. She never showed up! I was feeling sooo defeated and so frustrated!I felt like I would never bring my baby home!!! Hallejuah!!! We made an appointment for a few weeks later...and we know how well that turned out!!! Joshua is 9 months---he says MAMA and he is absolutely AMAZING!!! Jake is always telling Joshua how happy he is that we have him! He said it was a long time coming--but soo worth the wait. AMEN!!!!

Joshua is now 9 months and 2 weeks....what a difference a couple of weeks makes!! He can CRAWL now---no more dragging himself around---he is super fast! He can PULL UP and he PULLS UP on EVERYTHING!!! He is a very strong baby. He seems "tall" to me--so we are hoping that height and strength will make for a BALLER!!!

YAY! Joshua has reached many milestones this past month. He can "crawl"--scoot really all over the place! He can pull up. He can even cruise alittle--he is getting bolder every day--trying to "walk" holding on to his playpen or furniture.

Today was Joshua's 9 month wellness checkup. His stats:

20.8 lbs (thought he would weigh more)- 50%
30 inches-90%
18 inches head- 50%

He is growing very well. The doctor was very happy with his development.

He has his 2 bottom teeth--and one on the top--I can see the front two top teeth--almost out.

Joshua is such an easy going baby! He is sooo cute and such a BLESSING!!!

WOW...3 weeks since I blogged....but I'm back! We had a WONDERFUL Christmas break! The kids and I left for Atlanta on Christmas day. The girls came the next day--we had fun with them. We left for Charlestson on the 28th. Charleston was great! The kids enjoyed the camp and we had my birthday dinner at Hymans--like last year. Shrimp and grits was yummy! Joshua was a perfect little traveling baby! We drove back to Miami on Jan. 3....kids are back in school now.
Joshua is getting around much quicker now---still scooting--he has a tooth at the top now...so 3 total. His hair is curling more and getting "fuzzy". He is absolutely adorable and such a JOY! Everyone LOVED him at Christmas....he was a bit hit a Renaissance too!

I celebrated my bday with mommy and daddy and my 3 KIDS!!! I am soo BLESSED!! Looking forward to the BEST YEAR OF MY LIFE!!!!

Time is flying by....our special baby boy is already 8 months! We had a fabulous weekend--we had Jalen's playoff games--they won the championship!! Alexis had her holiday concert for MCC...unfortunately we couldn't be there because Jalen's game/banquet was at the same time. We went to a holiday party on Saturday evening---had a ball!!! Joshua was a perfect little guy---just hanging with me and the big kids-he is such a wonderful addition to our family!

Joshua's First Thanksgiving!

We had a WONDERFUl long weekend. Dawn, Dana and her kids came down Tuesday night. Alexis had her Fall concert at school--they didn't make it on time---just as well. We had a game Wednesday. We WON!! Thursday was dinner at Coach's house---food was soo delicious!! We sat around and talked and just enjoyed all the kids! It was definitely our best Thanksgiving Day in Miami! Joshua was such a good baby! We relaxed at the pool on Friday....went to the mall Friday evening--my Christmas cards/pictures were ready to be picked up! The pictures came out sooo cute!! So happy that I got it out of the way early this year. I will probably mail the cards around Dec.7--can't wait for everyone to see! I had soooo much to be THANKFUL for this year!!!
They left early Saturday morning... the kids and I chilled....and then later that afternoon we went to an away game about 2 hours away in Naples, FL. We had fun!! We won!! Sunday was church-- I took Joshua and left the 2 big kids at home with Jake. I am tired today---it was a LONG weekend....and of course I have to put my house babk together.....but it was a BEAUTIFUL weekend. THANK YOU LORD!

Date Night...

Last Saturday- Nov.6-Jake and I went on a date!! The kids went to our friend Kim's house..she and her husband (and little boy) watched the kids. Sooo happy we have someone we trust with the kids. Jake and I hadn't been out in years...other than in PA when we were getting Joshua. We saw the movie "For Colored Girls" and went to dinner....very nice evening.

Joshua is growing beautifully!! He is very active--not crawling--but grabbing everything and rolling over! He has 2 teeth now and his hair is starting to curl. He is soo adorable and so sweet! He babbbles--"dada" and "baba".

We had a GREAT day on Sunday! We went to a party at our church--Alexis and Jalen had a ball--bounce house, hotdogs, snowcones. Joshua was perfect in his cute little pumpkin hat. He just sat in his stroller watching the big kids run around. We came home and Alexis and Jalen changed into costumes and we went trick or treating...just a few houses in our neighborhood--they had so much fun. It was nice to see them getting along and having fun together! Jake was home giving out candy. We had chinese food and watched Charlie Brown Halloween once the kids had traded candy. Very nice family evening!! Very blessed!!!

Joshua is a happy 6 month old who is growing pefectly!!! He has been a busy baby as we go to Jalen's basketball games, Alexis's Miami Children's Chorus rehearals and performances....this past weekend we had a team dinner and we went to church with Coach and the team. Joshua was very well behaved and is such a JOY to take everywhere with us!
Today was Joshua's 6 month doctor visit. He got 3 shots....he didn't cry on the first one--but oh he SCREAMED on the second one!! He slept on the way home. Bless his little heart...I hate that his little fat thighs are sore!

This past Monday we took our annual media guide picture!!! After so many years of heartache, longing, praying....we are finally a family of 5!!! GOD IS SOO GOOD! Even though I am still recovering from surgery I managed to get my hair done--first time in over 2 years---very proud of my beautiful family!

A few days late...we took Joshua's monthly picture. Joshua is continuing to thrive--he reaches for EVERYTHING!! He SCREAMS--we call it singing. He is STRONG--he tries to sit up and now loves to suck noses! He sucks his fists like crazy!! I think he is teething---he is very spitty and kinda fussy---his gums to be bothering him....he is losing more hair---but is cuter than ever!!!

Joshua is becoming so active....I place him on his stomach and he tried to scoot then he FLIPPED onto his back....he had done this a few times earlier this week....so he officially can ROLL OVER!!! He still loves to pull my glasses off....he uses his LEFT hand for most things....interesting-maybe he will be a leftie like Punk. The big kids are at school....I have already worked out--it is 11am---I really try to get it done early so I can play with Joshua during the day. Joshua is now swinging....I probably need to start looking at some other toys for him....now that he is bigger....he now plays with the toys on the bar of his swing---so amazing how just a month ago he woudn't even reach out for the toys on his mat and swing---now he GRABS then and holds them so tight! We have a long weekend coming up---Labor Day--no plans--just to chill out and relax!!! Life is GOOD!

My baby is getting so BIG! He rolled over 2 times this past weekend. He LOVES to pull my glasses off and immediately puts them in his mouth---he LOVES my cell phone....shiny and of course that goes in the mouth too. We have tried rice cereal a couple of times--Joshua basically just spits it out....hasn't quite gotten the hang of eating off the spoon...will wait another month to introduce baby food---he seems to be growing so well with just formula....can't believe I only have 3 cans left from the 22 cans I bought....he is a greedy baby!!

Today was our adoption hearing!! Joshua is offically Joshua Morton!!! We didn't get to go to Tampa---kids had school and Jake had work...we did the hearing over the phone---it last less than 5 minutes----but it was BEAUTIFUL!! The judge said he now your son...awww...we did the hearing at Jake's office....so we had a notary (secretary) to swear us in.

It was 6 months EXACTLY to the day that I got the phone call that we had been chosen to be Joshua's parents. 6 months!!!! WOW!! GOD IS SO AWESOME!!!!!! Joshua is laying on the bed sleeping....he is truly a gift from above!!!!!!

Joshua is getting so active--when we first got the Tiny Love playmate he just laid on his back and stared---now he GRABS all the toys---even puts them in his mouth. When he is on his tummy he tries so hard to MOVE---he gets his legs and arms going---but he is on his stomach and not on all fours---so he doesn't get anywhere.....He loves to suck his fist and of course Mocha the Monkey. He is just starting to look like he wants to ROLL over. His head is very strong and he just looks around. Everyone is amazed at how BIG Joshua is!!

Joshua went to the doctor for 4 month checkup today....

Weight- 16lb.s 8 ounces
Height- 26.5 inches
Head- 16.75 inches

Went on line and found out he is in 80% for weight and 90% for height!!! YAY!!!
He really does look long to me....future Baller??? GO JOSH!!

God is SO GOOD!! We had an AMAZING 3 week vacation!! We got to see so many family members and friends....we ate at great restaurants....had some DELICIOUS desserts....Joshua did GREAT the entire trip. The plane ride home yesterday with 3 kids was very nice....Joshua is just shy of 4 months---he has been to the following states: Pennsylvania, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland....wow!

So today we went to church--Jake is slimming down and the kids are growing like weeds--Joshua looked huge today...so of course I captured the moment with pictures!! After church we went to Ale House...had a nice dinner and now we are just chillin'---life i good!!!

Going HOME tomorrow...

We have had a WONDERFUL vacation!!! What a true blessing these past 3 weeks have been..Joshua has met new family and friends, stayed in several hotels, different homes and ridden over 1,000 miles!!! He is still HAPPY and HEALTHY!!! He is such a JOY!!!
We went to Billy's house--saw the renovations---very nice! We had Chinese food and cake for daddys bday. The kids and I plus Jordan headed to Catherine's about 9....had a nice visit....spent the night. Catherine remembered the stroller--I wasn't going to mention it---but she gave me her credit card and I ordered it yesterday---the City Elite by BabyJogger....it got great reviews on line....very excited---looking forward to long walks by the lake and also taking Joshua to the Falls---gotta WALK, WALK, WALK!!!

So today the kids are at the pool with mommy--I have to pack up and we leave tomorrow at 3:59 out of BWI---the kids still have 2 weeks before school starts---crazy! This summer has been sooo nice---but LONG--I am VERY ready for them to go back to school! Looking forward to getting into our school routine...with MCC and basketball.

So, we made it to VA on Monday after spending the night...we went to Bridgewater and met the lady who bought our house---Sandy--very nice lady...she invited us in and we took pictures--the house is TOTALLY different---the kids didn't like what she did with the house---it is country style now. We then went to the old elementary school---visited with the principal---very nice guy. The kids had fun running through the halls of their old stomping ground. We met up with Nora and the boys---visit was way too short--but it was sooo nice to see them---I made sure to take alot of pictures---still would've liked more though.....seeing Joshua and Peyton together was worth the trip---even it was just for mere minutes!!
Ate lunch at Ham's--the owner knows Jake--so we talked for awhile and he even sent a Cookie Skillet and Brownie Sundae over to our table for dessert----oooh YUMMY!! Don't even want to know how much weight I have gained this trip--I have been LOVING my sweets!!!!!
So we made it to Cambridge on Monday night---very peaceful. We had a very low key day on Tues.--went to Walmart and celebrate daddy's bday with a yummy dinner and cake and ice cream---more dessert!!!
Today we are headed into Silver Spring---going back across the Bay Bridge---to see the fam....we will spend the night at Catherines....should be nice.

Road trip that is. We left Atlanta on Wed. July 28th--arrived in Durham, NC that evening. Daddy had a meeting to attend--we just enjoyed a nice dinner and an evening at the Sheraton...Alexis, Joshua and I shared a room--we ended up watching Toddlers and Tiara's--show about little girl in beauty pageants...very chill...
Next day we left and drove ALL day to Ohio---passing through VA and W.VA--we stopped at Applebee's in W.VA--had a yummy lunch. Joshua was excellent in the car---barely made a sound.
We have been in Yellow Springs since Thursday evening...we have enjoyed going to Young's Dairy and Kmart--we took a walk around the corner to grandmother's old house...the kids are having a ball because they are staying at Vernon's house--feels kinda like staying at a cabin at camp.
Joshua has been the center of attention---and has done so well adjusting to all these different surroundings.
We are headed to church this morning and then on the road again...to VA!

Still in ATL....Joshua has been holding his head up so much better this week...he is soo cute!! He turns his head more and looks around. He LAUGHS alot....and gets so excited when Alexis or Jalen get up in his face and SMILE!!! He also has started to use his little hands...when he is looking at my shirt that has a pattern--he tries to "grab" the print...so funny! He stares at his little Lamaze butterfly that hangs off his carseat--and I can tell it will be very soon that he will figure out how to reach out and grab it. Joshua is always hungry and it is only a matter of weeks before he turns 4 months and will start rice cereal...I am sure the kids will fight over who gets to feed him. Jake is missing us...especially Josh--he texts me and asks for pictures--love the modern technology!

Joshua is a SWEET baby--he has really bonded with Pam Pam and Pop Pop---it is so sweet to watch them with him....last night Joshua fell right in the crook of Pop Pop's arm....we were having a goodbye party (annual tradition) for Alexis and Pop Pop held Joshua the whole party.

Looking forward to getting on the road tomorrow--to introduce Joshua to more friends and family.

We are in Atlanta--Joshua, Jalen and I left Miami--a week ago yesterday. We had a 6:30 am flight---Jalen was very helpful in the airport and Joshua did GREAT on his very first flight! Dana picked us up with mommy and Alexis--and we headed straight to Macon for play practice--We left for Augusta--for Leadership Conference on Monday...the play was Wed. Again, Joshua was GREAT--we had a really nice time in Augusta--Joshua even rode in a limo for the first time---a limo picked us up to take us to the play. Alexis and Jalen did a great job in the play--and I got a lot of compliments on my part too--hopefully we can get a DVD--would be a nice keepsake.

So, we returned to ATL--today we went to church at Turner--then out to dinner at a really good restaurant--Rays on the River--Joshua was PERFECT---I LOVE my BABY!!!!!!

We are heading to Ohio, VA and MD this week....looking forward to seeing relatives and friends....very low key--no real "plans"--just have to be back in Miami by Aug.21--we have a wedding and then school starts Aug.23.....this summer has been sooo nice...we have been busy and Joshua is such an amazing blessing to our entire family--he makes EVERY day sooo much FUN!!!

Today Joshua is 3 months old! The past 3 months with Joshua have been AMAZING!!! It is surreal.....the JOY tha this baby has brought me and my family is indescribable! He is pure LOVE! When I look into his BIG brown eyes...I see GOD....and I feel his warmth! Oh, I wish I were more articulate...so I that I could adequately convey how much Joshua means to me......

Joshua SMILES all the time!! Now he is starting to smile at me!! And he LAUGHS...especially when I sing "Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho" and tickle his tummy.

Joshua has discovered his little hands....he just stares at his fists...and turns them around and gets so excited! He LOVES to suck his fist---sometimes he gets both hands in his mouth at once!

Joshua is soo easy going....he only gets UPSET when he is hungry...he takes 6-8 oz every 3 houra....looking forward to starting rice cereal in about a month

We went to church and then out to dinner at Cheesecake Factory---soo yummy! Ate way too much--but every one in awhile you gotta let yourself have a major PIG OUT day!
Joshua is smiling and laughing more---he loves his swing now....well actually he tolerates it--I LOVE it--because he always falls asleep in it....he plays on his Tinylove activity mat too---usually put him on it while I am working out on treadclimber in bonus room....Maritza got me a bunch a clothes from her sister in law--percect timing-Josh is outgrowing all his 3 month sleepers.....most of this stuff is 3-6 months...

Today was the last day of basketball camp week #2 for Jalen. Joshua and I had a busy week--with company (Reggie and his son) in the house--and I had dentist on Tuesday, Ortho on Wed. and gynocologist on Thursday--Joshua is the perfect little errand buddy--we have been to the Starbucks, the library,the pool, the grocery store, the church for a meeting, the mall, Applebees, Hooters, back and forth to camp---I am tired just thinking about it.....Joshua is sleeping now...it is Friday evening and I am soo happy to have NO plans for this upcoming holiday weekend...I just want to chill....

WOW! Jake and I were married 13 years ago today!! I can't help but reflect on all we have been through---in building our beautiful family...Alexis was a honeymoon baby--I basically just wished to be pregnant and IT HAPPENED!! Jalen wasn't much harder--just took about 6 months to convince Jake to try....and then we hit a WALL....oh the years of secondary infertility and recurrent miscarriage were soooo hard---but because we survived the storm--we FINALLY got to see the rainbow---Joshua is here!!! When I think of the GOODNESS of Jesus and all he's done for me....my soul cries out Hallejuah...THANK GOD for saving me....

Jake has been an amazing husband and father...I really can't imagine being married to anyone else....I know that these 13 years have made us stronger---I know that God has been with us every step of the way....

The devil is a liar---he has constantly tried to attack me,my marriage and even my kids--I WILL NOT LET HIM!! I am going to hold to God's unchanging hand!!!

I am excited about our future....the Morton family will continue to prosper--God's name be PRAISED!!!!

Finalization Paperwork...

So a couple of weeks ago we heard from our lawyer (he works for agency)---he needed Joshua's full name and info---so he could draft finalization paperwork..we signed paperwork--took it to bank and got notarzied----and I mailed it back yesterday---excited because lawyer says we should have court date by mid August---can't wait to get Joshua's birth certificate and social securty card....

Heard from Jaime on the 22nd--I had suggested we always "talk" on the 22nd of the month---she is doing well....losing weight, keeping busy, getting her life back...
I often wonder how she is coping with the loss....if she has sad days....she said she is doin better than she expected....she knows that Joshua is very much loved and well take care of....that allows her not to be sad and not regret her decision.

Picked up the pictures the kids took at Sears...soo cute--We gave Jake a collage of all 3 kids for Father's Day (paid extra to get that one printed that day)---really nice--he took it to his office and he sai "everybody" liked it....we are soo blessed to have such a beautiful family!!! Thank YOU LORD!!!!

Oh, and Jake is continuing to lose weight and LOOK GREAT! I am sooo thankful that my prayers have been answered....God is AWESOME!!!

Joshua is continuing to grow nicely...he is sleeping more at night--just waking up once..usually around 3 am. This was the first full week of summer break...Jalen had basketball camp...Joshua and I hung out...we stayed in most days...although Wed. since cleaning lady came we went out---saw Sex and the City 2---Joshua slept the whole movie! We went on Friday to see Jalen's team play in Championship game--they won!! Jalen played very well....Jake was so proud! Excited because Jalen made a new friend..Zach--we have a play date next week!

So-I will take the boys to church--Alexis is going to Ronald's church in Macon---daddy is preaching...Maya, Daleah and Cammie are all going too...fun! Seems like we were just there for Mother's Day!!

Jake had to work today---they have a team camp going on this weekend...we will go out to dinner....really excited to give him the beautiful picture collage of all 3 kids...

We took Jake to Houston's for dinner...then we went to Barnes and Nobles for a muffin and magazines....low key---nice day.Jake is a PROUD daddy of 3!!!

Joshua's 2 Month Checkup

Joshua went yesterday to doctor---Monday the 14th.
Stats:
Weight- 10lbs 4 oz (thought it would be more)
Height- 25 inches (tall!)
Head- 16.25

He also got his first round of shots---he screamed when he first felt the needle---but only cried a few seconds--my tough lil guy!!!

Dr. Sanders said his birthmarks don't worry him...will just keep an eye on them....unfortunately, Dr.Sanders is moving to Nashville....I really like him--he has seen Alexis and Jalen since we moved to Miami 3 years ago....

Joshua SMILES everyday now....usually when I SMILE at him--he gets excited and kicks his legs and SMILES...he has even laughed a few times

Daddy came this weekend to get Alexis for summer vacation. We had a great weekend...very low key....watched a movie (Invictus)and went to dinner (Applebees)--then on Sunday we went to church and out to breakfast (Roasters n Toasters) and then to airport. Daddy LOVES Joshua and spent time holding him and "playing" with him. So blessed to have such a WONDERFUL Pop Pop.

Today was the first day of summer break...nice not to have to get up at 5:15 with Alexis...although I was up at 2:45 as usual with Buddha and again around 6am. Took Alexis to get her hair braided...what a LONG day.....Jalen and Joshua were sooo good!! Joshua just sat in his carseat and dozed all day....such a SWEET baby.

Our social worker came for the second of three post placement visits. Joshua was soo good...just had to answer a few basic questions about his eating and sleeping....how everybody was adjusting....

Looking forward to taking Joshua to doctor on Monday---really curious to see how much he weighs and how long he is...social worker said he looks about 4 months!!

As I type my beautiful boy is sleeping on my chest. He is 8 weeks and 2 days....he is growing so fast! Definitely filling out...a BUDDHA!!! He still sleeps most of the day---then goes to "bed" around 11pm---wakes up around 2:45am for 6 ounces and then again around 5:30---I am already up with Alexis....but for ONLY ONE MORE DAY!! Yes, tomorrow is the LAST day of YWPA for us....I continue to hear good things about Southwood---one of the best things? They will start school at 9:10 next year!!! So hopefully Joshua will be sleeping through the night by then and will not be up at 5:15anymore!! So hard to believe how much has happened this school year...spitting, sickness, shots, Lots of Lox, hospital, funeral home, home study update, physicals, fingerprints, recommendations, home visit, profile, MATCH,emails, money, wire transfer, phone calls, drive to ATL, train to PA, lunches, walking, movies, Starbucks, hotels, rental cars, doctor appointments, scheduled induction.....JOSHUA!!!!!!

Joshua Goes to Church!!

Took Joshua to our church for the first time. Great service....He met Pastor Reed and Karen--they were thrilled to finally meet him. Everyone thought he was soo cute! Very happy to have our whole family of 5 at church.

After church we went to Sawgrass Mills mall...Alexis and I took Joshua and did some shopping while Jake and Jalen went on their own...much better than the last time we went to the mall and we stayed together...Alexis actually said she really enjoyed our day and the time we spent together...took her to Claire's and bought her a hat--and then to Books A Million and got a few books...then we met up with Jake and Jalen for lunch at Rain Forest Cafe---Joshua was perfect--he slept the whole meal---we had GREAT food--took cute pictures and really enjoyed ourselves.

We came home and just chilled....wonderful day!!!

Well...another school week gone by. Went by really fast. Joshua and I enjoyed our lazy days....we ran a few errands--library, post office, mall,etc.
Today I got up and made grits and omlets for Jake and the kids, fed Joshua and spent most of the day in my pjs!! We had a conference call ("baby shower")--only a few people--but really nice...it was sweet of Yaminah and Catherine to do it. Yaminah an d I talked for awhile and it was very nice to catch up--she seems to be in such a great place! Happy for her!
I took the kids to the fabric store-Alexis has a sewing class tomorrow for girl scouts...she will be making a pillow for child at Children's Hospital and one for herself.
Jake took Alexis and Jalen to the beach and then they brought pizza home--we watched some of the basketball game-Celtics v. Magic....just a very low key family evening--just what we all needed!!
I am just LOVING life right now....Resting on His Promises!!!!!

Joshua is sleeping. Alexis is watching tv. Jalen is playing Playstation...Jake just got a jetski--so he is outside getting stuff ready to take it and ride...at first I was alittle annoyed---but he definitely works hard and deserves nice things--he is so generous with all of us--we didn't do anything for his bday (although he didn't do anything for my last one either)--so this is definitely his gift to himself....hopefull when Joshua gets older we can go to the beach and watch Jake ride--not sure if I will get to go--unless I find a babysitter I can trust to watch the kiddies...I am such a homebody though--I really ENJOY staying in the air conditioned comfort of the house-- it is so freakin' hot here---it is only May...so not looking forward to the heat coming in June, July and August....

Mothers Day Weekend/Joshua's Baptism

We ended up pulling the kids out of school on Friday (May 7) and drove all day to Atlanta--the trip was very pleasant...Jake drove the whole way--the kids watched dvds and played video games...Joshua slept almost the entire way---my sweet baby! We stopped once for lunch and one other time for gas.....got to Atlanta around 9--daddy was waiting for us on the porch...you could tell he was so excited to meet Joshua. We ordered chinese food---ate and talked and went to bed....

Saturday--got up pretty early--very low key day. Dana took Alexis to run errands---and I took Jalen and Clayton to the pool---gorgeous weather! Jake went to pick up Paul, Naomi and the kids from the airport....then an hour after they arrived--Billy and Denise and their kids arrived...we hung out at the pool---the boys played soccer and kick ball...the girls worked on a Mother's Day presentation. Mommy was not trying to cook--so we Jake and I went to get the kids some pizza--the adults had chinese...we then had the presentation from Alexis, Jordan and Maxine---Cammie had gone camping with her girl scout troop---not quite sure why. But anyway, the girls did poetry, dance and sang...they also had each mom come up and they said something special and presented us with gifts--earlier when Alexis had gone out with Dana--she purchased gifts for everyone...so sweet---the performance was really cute---they put it together in just a few hours---my talented girls!!! Then we just hung out at the house--very relaxed---we watched basketball and talked.....then it was time for bed---we knew we had to get up really early to drive to Macon for church--

Sunday--got up and got ready. I was up because Joshua was up early for bottle..the kids all slept together on the floor in the basement...a big cousin sleep over---FUN!
We drove to Macon--got to church on time--actually alittle early. The kids were hungry and we didn't have time to stop for food--so daddy went out and got McDonalds--he got back once church had started--so the kids just left the service for a little while to eat...they were very happy. Mommy preached--good--music was great. Then we had the baptism...soo nice...I had a "moment"--because GOD IS SO AWESOME!!! I always had a longing in my heart each Mother's Day--because my third child hadn't found his way home yet...every year I would hope and pray that the next year would be the year! All the years of trying, crying, shots, disappointment, heartache, loss, depression, anger, frustration, hurt, sickness....all gone!!!! God promised me I would have another child and he NEVER goes back on his word.....I kept the faith and GOD DID IT!!! I just looked around at my families faces---especially the kids---we are just so blessed--it was overwhelming.....THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!

After church they had a wonderful dinner for us...mac and cheese, chicken, rice, greens, lemonadee, salad--soo tasty! And we were the only people in the dining area--which was so nice....we took a few pictures--although I am kicking myself for not taking more--especially since I paid $40 for a charger--I had left my charger at home and was determined to take pictures....but I got some good ones...and the memories I have from the day are absolutely priceless....I will never forget the feeling....everybody has embraced Joshua and all the kids adore him....it just warms my heart that my family is so genuinely happy for me....they don't know all the details of what I went through--although I did share my loss of Bria with Denise and Naomi....I just feel like I can talk about my loss now....I feel like I have to share my testimony to let others know that GOD is real!! And that YOU CAN MAKE IT!!!

We had to hit the road...we changed our clothes and said our good-byes---anohther gorgeous day...eveyone was so happy and you could just tell that the weekend had affected everyone in such a positive way....family bonding---priceless!!!

Jake drove the whole way home--stopped once for dinner--ride was smooth and the kids did very well. We were all happy to be home---got into bed with SMILES on our faces!!!

Joshua is soo beautiful! He is growing nicely..he feels so much heavier and is working on head control. Over the weekend we went to Atlanta and then to church in Macon for Mother's Day. Joshua got baptized...the weekend was soo nice!!! I will post about it tomorrow...right now I am getting Joshua to sleep and watching TV after getting the big kids down....

ONE MONTH:

He is such a good baby! He runs errands with me all day...and hardly ever fusses....

Post Placement Visit!

Yesterday Yvonne our sociall worker came for our first post placement visit!! POST placement!!! SOOO EXCITING!!! Sometimes I have to pinch myself to believe this all really happened!!! OMG!!! This Sunday will be my first Mother's Day as a MOMMY OF 3!!!!!!!! I have dreamed of this day forever.....Joshua is doing great--although last night was kinda rough--we were up most of the night--or atleast it felt like that....had to get up with Alexis at 5:15---counting the days until this school year is OVER---next year will be much easier....school will start at 8:45.

So--visit was fine...she asked a bunch of questions....commented on how cute Joshua is and said she will see us in a month....

3 week doctor visit

Missed the traditional 2 week check up. Took Joshua to Dr. Saunders--the big kids doctor....he "looked great"! He weighed 9lbs 4 oz and was 22 inches. His head is 15 inches....I need to look back and try to find Jalen's stats to compare. I was so happy to take Joshua to doctor---first time I had seen his name printed out--it was on his chart--Joshua Morton---it looked soo cute!

Joshua is a wonderful baby---we all are so in love!!! He gets fussy only when he needs to eat or burp---I went out and bought a swing this past week---he doesn't seem to like it...hoping he will learn to like it....I absolutely love to hold him....and I love the fact that he wants to be in my arms always---but obviously I can't hold him and need to get some things done....Sabrina came to visit last Thursday--she was on her way home from a cruise...so I had to clean up the house---I put Joshua in the Baby Bjorn and he loved it---he fell asleep right away-- I just have to learn how to put the thing on better---Alexis actually figured it out and showed me how to use it..

Joshua really isn't on a schedule--he pretty much eats on demand and wakes up around 3 am and 6am for bottles....I really don't mind...I am seriously sleep deprived--but am kinda used to it from getting up with Alexis at 5:15am for school----so happy we only have 6 more weeks of school----what a school year it has been---sooo much has happened---hard to believe I was pregnant the first 2 and a half months of the school year---I was soo sick....what a blessing to feel WONDERFUL and have my beautiful baby boy....

We took Alexis and a friend--Amber bowling as a belated birthday celebration....we had fun!!! It was really nice to get out and do something as a family---our new family of 5! Alexis is very helpful with the baby and is a beautiful 12 year old girl-- I am very blessed to have her as my daughter...

Joshua and I have had 2 days home alone now---big kids in school...daddy at work....the kids come home and can't wait to see him...Jake calls all day to "check in"....so cute! Last night after work Jake stopped and bought a little dresser for Joshua's clothes---he totally cleaned out the bonus room closet for his clothes---Jake has really stepped up and is soo in love with Joshua....I took him to the office today...we had to go sign taxes....Jake of course wanted me to bring baby in-- I was just going to stay in the car....he was very proud of Joshua! We went to lunch and Jake said--he is such a cute baby--he loves the fact that he "looks black"....he is a beautiful caramel color....he fits right in with our family!!!

Arrived home late Thursday night...mommy was here with the kids---it was 1am...but they were determined to meet their lil brother...they were thrilled!!!The kids went to school Friday...mommy and I stayed home and chilled....enjoying baby Joshua....later that evening I took Alexis out for a belated birthday dinner...mommy stayed home with Jalen and Joshua---my boys!!!!

Mommy left Saturday morning...we took some cute pictures with the baby....mommy wanted a picture or the 3 kids for her phone....3 kids!!!!
Jake had to do some work stuff after he dropped mommy at airport...but he came home and immediately worked around the house---he has been sooo awesome--he cleaned out my entire closet and organized all my drawers.....he cleaned out a closet in the bonus room for Joshua's clothes...he has been soo helpful and I can tell he is soo in love with Joshua...at one point we had a moment in the hallway...he just grabbed me and kissed me and said, "The baby is beautiful".......awwww......perfect!

Sunday- Jake took my car in for repair---ugh!! Jake is actually talking about getting me a new car---I really want a Toyota Sienna....Jake keeps saying Joshua needs a better car....I knew once Jake laid eyes on the baby--he would step up and be thrilled about a new baby. There is so much LOVE in the house...Joshua is such a blessing....in so many ways!!!!

So Tuesday...I checked out of the Fairfield Marriott....and had made a reservation for a hotel near the Philadelphia airport....had to get out of Allentown...turns out I called Susan Tuesday morning and asked how things were going with ICPC...she said PA need one more paper---something regarding American Adoptions policy on attempt to locate birth father....so we contacted Mary and she faxed paper....so I asked Susan if I could leave PA once cleared and wait for clearance to FL...she said as your attorney I have to advise you what the law says....however as an adoptive mom...I can say read between the lines....as long as I can reach you by cell phone...I don't have to know where you are.....so at that point I got on it---Jake called and made reservation for the train.....I was so happy to make it to the train station and return the car--got there with 2 hours to spare---got some pizza (nasty)....relaxed.

The train ride was as nice as it could be....sitting up for 17 hours-- I was so happy to be going home with my beautiful boy....he got a lot of attentions....everyone said how cute he was and how good he was on the train ride---he only cried a few times when he was hungry---slept well. We got on the train at 3:55pm and arrived in Atlanta
at 8:15am. Daddy arranged for a minister to pick us up...Rev. Stegall...nice. Got to the house---relaxed most of the day. Had to call roadside assistance to bring a new battery---Jake's car had been sitting for 3 weeks. Took Dana's kids to eat and dropped Clayton at baseball...talked to Jaime--she had called earlier to make sure we got there....she said they were doing well. I had plans to leave at 5am the next morning...was way too tired....

Headed to Macon...met Dawn for lunch--went to O'Charley's...nice time. Got on the road around 1.....the drive was ok....long...but ok. Joshua only fussed when he was hungry..had to stop quite a bit. Stopped for hot chocolate/coffee in Gainsville--I had a hot chocolate with 2 shots of espresso before I hit the road--Thank God for caffiene!!!

Oh, got a call from Susan around 10:45---cleared ICPC---free to enter FL---great timing!!!

Made it through the weekend.....very lazy days just bonding with Joshua....I will never get this time back...savoring every minute. It is easier to be away from the kids knowing that they are being well taken care of. Mommy and daddy have been sooo supportive and helpful....as always! Daddy was there all last week and then Candace-a minister they know-filled in and helped out on Saturday when daddy had to leave and Jake was still away at his second interview for Howard head job. Mommy is heading down to Miami to help this week...really happy because Alexis's bday is Thursday...she will make it special.....I bought her some clothed from justice...and UPS mailed them to her...I want her to have something to open. I will make her cele bration special when I gwt back.

So Joshua and I went to the mall...Starbucks and Barnes and Noble. Also got a few baby clothes...Baby Gap and JCPenny...also bought some detrgent to finally do laundry. All baby's clothes were dirty.

Joshua was up every 3 hours to eat...I don't mind. He is such sweet baby....I love taking care of him. So I had no diapers left..the hospital gave me Pampers Swaddlers....didn't realize we had gone through all of them. We headed to Target...so cold...coldest morning since I had been here. I got some baby stuff and of course Starbucks Hot Chocolate.....really need to buy the $25 discount card...we headed back to hotel...I spent a few hours on the conputer.....I could look at the photo shoot pictures all day...I sent the link to many people....and read many congrats and well wishes on FB. I had messaged certain people about Joshua...didn't want to announce in my satus...so many random people that I didn't want to tell...I guess they will figure it out once I post pictures.....

So we spent the whole day just laying around and watching tv.....so sweet to spend this one on one time with Joshua.....it will be 3 weeks tomorrow since I have seen Alexis and Jalen.....missing them so....cannot wait to spoil them when I get home.

FridayJoshua and I were up most of the night---he isn't quite on a schedule yet...so we had to go to the doctor...he had dropped to 7lbs 14oz...doctor wanted to make sure he was gaining weight back....he weighed in at 8lbs. 1 oz....Dr.Daniels was very impressed! She was soo nice...so many people on this journey have been amazing...
Trying to remember what else we did Friday--I am soo sleep deprived....
Oh, so on the way home from doctor--Catherine and Yaminah called...they had been trying to reach me--they are working on the virtual shower---sooo sweet!! We talked about dates and ideas...I told Yaminah I would get her a list of email addresses---
Stopped and got some pizza to take back to the room....wasn't that great-- but I was starving....we stayed in the rest of the night-- I spend awhile on the computer--blogging and working on list for shower...I am having a baby shower!!!! I haven't had a baby shower in 9 years!!!! They gave me one at work for Jalen....wow!!! It has been a long time coming...soooo excited!!!!

Saturday Woke up around 8am. We had a photo shoot scheduled for 1pm....We went to Babies R Us-- I needed to get wipes and formula--while there I added to registry that I had started online...picked out some really cute stuff...hope I get some of it! Catheine said that she and Ike wanted to buy a crib...picked out a beautiful one--not sure where we are going to actually set it up---then we went to the mall--I read magazines and drank hot chocolate...then I went to Sephora to get some makeup...headed to photo shoot---of after stopping for cash--I was going on the Turnpike--needed toll money. Got to Dresher, PA....Kelly was soo nice--studio in her parent's home--very professional. We took so many amazing photos...I have already emailed the link to family/friends to view....I have to decide which picture to use for birth announcement. Joshua looked just liked the babies in the newborn photography book I got the idea from.....sooo precious...I am going to spend alot--cause I want EVERY picture!!!
Came home--nice drive back--once I got on the right road (oops!)...went to Five Guys-- again I waited all day to eat....ooh that bacon/cheesburger with extra grille onions, mushrooms and bbque sauce was sooooo good!!!! Watched tv...spent hours just gazing into Joshua's adorable little face...as much as I want to go home-- I am also so grateful for this time to bond with baby...once we get back to Miami...I have to work on school stuff with kids and take Jalen to doctor--still struggling with encopresis.....now that infertility/adoption journey is FINALLY over-- I know I am going to be able to be a better mom and stay on top of things more!!! I LOVE my kids soo much--MY 3 KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So Joshua and I woke up early--not sure when we really went to bed--he is a typical newborn up all night--but I do not mind at all...I just have to get naps in when he is sleeping---since I have gotten up at 5:15 all school year with Alexis--my body has learned to function on less sleep. We went to the mall...Starbucks and Barnes and Noble--Hot Chocolate with a shot of espresso and vanilla syrup....and I looked at the newborn baby photography book--I made an appointment for Joshua to have a photo shoot on Saturday---so excited-- I really want to freeze this moment in time-- I wish he didn't have to get bigger--but I know he does--so a really nice set of photos of this stage will be awesome...hoping to get a great picture to use on the birth announcement. So I had to talk to Jake about his paperwork--he of course kept asking me when I was coming back--God I wish I knew--SOON! Joshua and I went to the children's section and read a story and I took pictures of him with some Sesame Street stuffed animals.

Then we went to Rock-A-Buy Baby--a consignment store I found his car seat in---wanted to get him a swing--ended up getting a vibrating bouncy seat--just something for him to "do" in the hotel. I had spoken with Jaime a few times and she seemed to be in good spirits---she was home and had mentioned that she bought Joshua some formula--she said she knew how expensive and she had food stamps.....oh and she had also mentioned that when the boys came to see her the day I left the hospital they were disappointed that they hadn't gotten to say goodbye to me---so sweet! So I went to CVS to transfer a bunch of baby pictures to a CD...and I printed a few pictures for Jaime...and then I headed to her house. Kinda "weird"--taking the baby back to birth mom's house the day after TPR? Most would probably think so--but not at all--felt so right as I pulled up to her house. We had a wonderful time--we just talked--her mom, friend Angie, Jaime and myself sat around the kitchen--me holding the baby--them admiring how cute he is...and just talking...Jaime got a bunch of pictures out--alot of the boys when they were babies---sooo cute!! I got to see Jaime in her pre-pregnancy state--she was tiny and soo cute! Joshua definitely got good genes....Jaime's hair is soo pretty---very long and THICK! Seeing pictures of her oldest son was so fun--because so far Joshua looks the most like him...he is such a cutie--he had a big curly afro when he was little.

Jaime talked alot about her decision to place for adoption...she told me how comfortable she felt with us and how thankful she was that Joshua was going to a good home....her mom opened up more about the reservations she initially had with the whole adoption...she admitted that she and Jaime hadn't talked in a couple of months and she had prayed about it and called her the night before Easter.....she is a very nice woman--I THANK GOD that Jaime has her support---it will make things much easier on her as she deals with emotions...that are bound to surface....

We took some more pictures--a really cute on of Jaime and all 4 boys...and then we said our goodbyes--wasn't sad this time--we vowed to see each other again--we had talked earlier about Jake not wanting to keep things "open"--and Jaime agreed that it is more of guy thing--to stay guarded and not get "attached"---the thing is--Jake doesn't have to stay in touch with Jaime and the boys--but I will....just like 95% of infertility stuff and adoption stuff I did--I will continue...I mean he really has no reason to keep in touch with them...I have a feeling he will see them again though---I really can see us meeting up at Disney World some day....

So Joshua and I headed back to Five Guys--didnt' eat all day again--my body has learned to basically survive on 1 meal-- I like that....since baby arrived I haven't been working out...can't wait to get back into fitness routine. Got back to hotel--ate my food--watched Project Runway, fed baby----what a WONDERFUL day we had!!!!

Wednesday April 14-- TPR!!!

Jaime signed her TPR papers with Susan!!! Joshua and I got up and headed to Target-- I needed Starbucks and a few baby items---t-shirts and body suits. We had a doctor's appointment at 1...I called Jaime and she was literally signing papers---apparently it was a HUGE stack--fortunately the hospital provided a notary free of charge...so Joshua did well at his appointment--he was down to 7lbs 14 oz--so the doctor wanted to see him back in 2 days for a weight check. After the doctor I had to meet Susan at a notary office to sign my paperwork--sooo excited to get that done---of course with Jake not being here the process is delayed--because she then had to fax the paperwork to him and wait for him to sign and notarize--Thank God Andrea--secretary-is a notary....so after signing paperwork I took Joshua to the car---and sat under a beautiful tree and fed him a bottle--such a beautiful moment--Of course I am missing Alexis and Jalen and just being home--but these quiet moments with just Johsua are absolutely priceless!!! So then I stopped and got Chinese food---again I had just had the Starbucks all day and was starving----it was DELICIOUS!!! Sitting in hotel room, watching tv--watching my adorable newborn baby sleep---it gets no better!!

So after we took Joshua's hospital picture we went back to Jaime's room to do car seat check and discharge. Oh the emotion that came over me.....Jaime asked if she could give Jalen....oops I mean Joshua ...a kiss....I looked at her and just well up with tears...she is such an amazing person...my heart was broken....and because of her selflessness it is healed. My heart has been healed by the love I feel for Joshua...I feel like I can't adequately express my thanks for what she has done. She had told me that it made it easier to place the baby because she felt so good about me....she knows he is going to a good home...she said she even listened to certain things I said...like when I was on the phone (not sure who I was talking to) and saying that I didn't want him in the nursery....she said she wouldn't have wanted that either.....
So the lawyer Susan got Joshua nice and tight in the car seat..she has adopted 3 and has 1 bio child...she is an expert on car seats...so the nurse gave me a bag with formula and diapers....then we walked downstairs...I brought the car around.....Susan got in the car and secured the base....again...so appreciative..I had no clue what to do and the nurse isn't allowed to do anything with car seat.

So Joshua and I drove off....sooo excited! I was starving....we stopped at Five Guys...and then headed to Fairfield Inn--Jake booked us a reservation...had to leave Courtyard Marriott because friends and family discount not available...so we settled in and I enjoyed a great meal of bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions and mushrooms and barbeque sauce and fries....yummy!!!

Of course Joshua got several compliments as we entered the hotel and got on the elevator---awww look at the baby....soo cute!!!

Tuesday April 13....

So, I got Joshua back from nursery--he was calmed down--and I was rested and feeling much better....Jaime came over in the morning--she said she was feeling much better--she looked happier too...so the doctor examined the baby and cleared him for discharge--sooo exciting...I thought we had to wait for Jaime to leave--but she was able to consent to him leaving without her....so I had to start packing up--took a much needed shower...and went downstairs for much needed Starbucks.....then the nurse went over discharge stuff--basic baby care and his next doctor's appt.
She told me to go to the car and get his car seat--they have to actually see the car seat and approve it...so I head down---OMG--getting really excited at this point--I had been driving around with that car seat in the trunk for 2 weeks...felt like I was never going to use it.....
So then when I get back upstairs---something just came over me--like go to Jaime's room now--it was soo odd....so when I get in there--she is holding the baby!! OK..not really expecting that...but she isn't crying or anything...actually happy and some woman is snapping pictures----ok??? So, this this actual Susan--the lawyer--turns out she is GREAT- an adoptive mom of 4 and her best friend is a birth mom...I had actually never talked to Susan--but Jaime had...and she said she was really nice. So, Jaime only held him for a minute--but I ran next door to grab my camera--really wanted picture of Joshua with the 2 of us....Susan took a few---really wish my hair had looked better--but considering the lack of sleep emotional roller coaster ride I had been on--the picture is great---we will never get to re-live that moment---soo happy to have gotten it on film....it didn't feel awkward with Jaime holding the baby---honestly it truly felt like she was holding MY baby.....so then we took Joshua to take his pictures--I had acutally told the nurse not to worry about it--cause usually those newborn pictures aren't too good....well turns out Jaime had already told the nurse that she definitely wanted the picture done---she is a really big picture person--just one of many similarities we share...so I dressed Joshua in his take home outfit--actually had a cuter one---but I took it to the car because it was short sleeved....so Susan, the nurse, the discharge coordinator--Connie (very nice!), Jaime, and myself all went to take th picture--it was so cool--totally different than with Alexis and Jalen--everything is digital--we got to pick the picture we wanted...Jaime and I picked it together...he took some adorable pictures--the one we picked--his eyes and his mouth are open--like he is singing! Jaime kept saying how cute he was...everytime she would see him--she would say I can't belive how cute he is.....

Monday April 12

WOW...so now Joshua are in our room....sooo much better! Jaime is right next door--she actually talked to the nurse about me getting a room--she is soo sweet and very considerate....so I left the hospital in the morning to go check out of the hotel--didn't make sense to pay another night that I wasn't actually staying there....I returned to the hospital and immediately got Joshua from the nursery and took him to my room...nurses constantly came in and out to check on him....it was so weird and very nice to be in the hospital and not be the patient....they bother you so much--always taking blood and temps and everything....this made up for the times I had to be the patient.....so I am trying to remember this day...I am currently typing this on Wed. --back at another hotel (getting to that later)....at one point during the day I took the necklace over to Jaime that was from Joshua and me---really pretty diamond with 3 connected hearts---she loved it....unfortunately, right as I was giving it to her--2 medical students came in...apparently, Mary the social worker had sensed that Jaime might need some help with emotional state--so they were evaluating her...I left and went downstairs to get something to eat---again, it was so cool to be able to drop Joshua off in nursery just for few and go downstairs....being the adoptive mom does have certain advantages--I also had the flattest new mommy stomach on the unit....Jake made a comment about that.....
So, after I finished my food--Jaime came over and said she was going to shower and get ready for the boys and her aunt to come visit...I could tell she was down...I was feeling soo badly for her....and honestly nervous too...
So, then her mom and aunt come over to my room to see the baby---apparently Jaime didn't feel up to him coming to her room--sooo glad I got my room--her mom was so sweet she brought Jaime's baby album for me to see...she had commented the day before how much Joshua looked like Jaime when she was a baby---totally does!!! The pictures were soo cute--and she was so proud to show them to me....her mom really helped the process go smoothly--she was so supportive to me and Jaime--what a blessing--especially because she had originally been against the adoption.....
So her aunt-Tina--the one who was watching the boys---came too and she was super nice--congratulating me and just being very supportive....
They left the room....and a few minutes later--the oldest son walks in....he is sooo sweet!! Joshua looks so much like him and he was born on his birthday!!!! Wasn't sure how he would feel about that--but he seemed ok...he asked me if I was happy, if Jake was happy, if the kids were happy.....he is such a thoughtful kid...I hope Joshua inherits that same sweetness--definitely got it from Jaime--so then Jaime's mom walks back over with Jaime's camera and asks that we take some more pictures for her.....she knew that she would want more pictures---but didn't feel strong enough to see him at that point.....her son took pictures as we talked--and then he scanned through old pictures on camera---and shared them with me....very nice moment....it was very reassuring to know that he was ok....then the other 2 boys came in....they took a few more pictures with Joshua and then the aunt took them home---oldest gave me a hug before he left---love that kid!!
So, Jaime's mom had mentioned that Jaime's husband's mom, grandma and sister were coming to visit--and could they see the baby? I thought it was so cool how Jaime always asked me for permission for visits...and totally respected me as the "mom"---so they came over---soo black---not literally--but the way they talked...they were very nice--told me about a friend of their's who had just adopted after waiting several years---her kids are like 21 and 23--she just always wanted another baby....they said they were so happy for me and commented how much the baby looked like Jaime--he really does...it will interesting to see how he changes....I really hope he looks like oldest son---face and size--that kid is 180lbs in 6th grade--not fat though--just solid and he is very handsome!
Jamie came over later that night after everyone left--we were watching Dancing With the Stars and talking---I was holding Joshua--she was fine. We were just talking about how well things were going--and she was saying she didn't have a problem with me or her decison--she just likes to be in control of her emotions and not break down in front of others--she wished would've been up to holding him and changing his diaper....I just remember Maritza saying do not let her hold the baby---because it just makes it so much harder...I thought is was so amazing that she could sit there and look at him and not hold him....but she was going to take a sleeping pill so she could finally get some good rest-- I was happy about that--because I knew being well rested would help with her emotional state....so Mary called--she hadn't been able to reach Jaime...always makes me nervous when she calls--like she is going to tell me something is wrong--some paperwork is still missing....but she and Jaime talked--and things went well....Jaime headed off to bed....Joshua and I settled in for a long night---he was quite fussy...think his tummy was hurting.....I ended up taking him to the nursery so they could clean him up and wrap him really tightly-- I really needed some rest--cause I knew I was going to be on my own the next night.....

So Joshua was born @ 1:30am....felt like Saturday night...technically Sunday morning....I had been told that if rooms were available I could stay at the hospital...apparently that is not the policy and I was placed in an overflow nursery once Joshua was done in the nursery...the room looked like a storage room....no comfortable chiars..no tv...no bathroom....when I needed to go to the bathroom...the nurse acttually made me leave the unit and use hallway bathroom...I was so tired and happy I didn't even care...although when Iook back on it I wish I knew her name I would'vw dropped a note in the mail about that....so anyway after sitting there about an hour they wheeled Jaime right by on the way to her room...I was nervous to see her...at this point I didn't know her state of mind or how things were going to go...but she smiled and waved as she passed by. I literally stayed up all night...and although ai didn't want to leave the baby..I had to put him in the nursery and go back to the hotel-after stopping as Starbucks for a much needed hot chocolate with a shot of espresso. Got back to hotel..Jake and I had breakfast...first day I actually took advantage free breakfast...I was starving! After breakfast we packed up..Jake was leaving after he went to the hospital...I needed to pack up my stuff for Jake to take back..I knew I wouldn't be able to carry baby and luggage.
So I was soo anxious to get back to the hospital...missed my baby! I couldn't wait for Jake to meet him. So happy Joshua was born in time..Jake had already scheduled a flight out of DC for Sunday night at 6 when we thought induction was Saturday morning. So Jake neatly folded and packed all our stuff...he even made space for the extra car seat base.

We get the hospital and Jake meets our new son! I had texted him a picture...but it didn't really do him justice...when Jake saw Joshua his face lit up.....he was like..hey he is really cute....he held him and I got some great pictures...to be posted when I finally get hme to the computer!

So while Jake was there a friend of aime's came to visit..she came in to see the baby...for some reason Jake thought she was Jaime's mom..so then Jake and I went to Jaime's room for Jake to say goodbye...he really didn't want to...says he wasn't comfortable with the openess....but he told her how cute baby was...asked her how she felt.......very quick...really glad he did it.

I went back to the storage room/nursery after I walked Jake to his car....so glad he came....the Howard interview was a blessing...not sure when/if Jake would've come otherwise....I am in awe of the goodness of God and how everything aligned itself.

Back to spend time with baby....then Jaime's friend..Angie asked me to bring baby to the room to see the boys and her mom...have to admit I was nervous...but things were great..took pictures..boys and friend and mom held baby.....I got a cute one of all4 boys...I was wondering what was going through Jaime's mind as we posed all 4 boys...like was she thinking-- I can't do this..or were the boys thinking we want our brother to live with us....Jaime's mom held the baby and her friend was taking pictures--I sat across the room....very still...hope I didn't show how nervous I was...looking back it was a great moment and glad it happened...again just didn't know what to expect or what Jaime was feeling....I was already so in love with my little guy...amazing the phrase LOVE AT FIRST SITE definitely applies......

Ok..really trying to remember what happened next..I guess everyone left--and Jaime and I were talking....about me not getting a room... I decided to ask the charge nurse what was up--I was so tired of sitting in that room...and I needed to geot some rest.....so she called her assistant director of nursing--and put me on the phone with her...basically the hospital has no system in place to bill a non patient for a room--she apologized-- I asked if I could at least get a cot put in the storage room--she had suggested pushing 2 chairs together--wtf??? So then I went back to Jaime's room--and she had said I could pull the couch out in her room and sleep there---really thought that was too much--but I just needed a nap--so we decided I would stay....I fell asleep--and the next thing I knew the nurse came in and said she had talked to her director of nursing...and they had worked it out-- I could have the room next to Jaime's--THANK GOD!!!!! Of course, at this point I had taken the bag I packed back to the hotel--thinking I wasn't staying...I ended up falling asleep in my clothes---and just going to get the bag the next morning.....Joshua was very good the first night in our room---we snuggled together and watched tv----heaven!!!!!

OK...So they decided to od the c-section...head wasn't coming down. Jaime was such a trooper...she consented and said she just wanted to do what was best for baby. They said only one person could go in operating room...I knew her mom wanted to go....and they explained that the baby would be brought right out and I could go with him to the nursery. So her mom and I waited while they prepped her....she hugged me when thry called her back....she was so supportive...so happy she was there. So dhe headed back and sat and waited alone....felt sooo long...I prayed.....then the nurses assistant came out and told me he was here...she siad it was definitely a boy and that he was big.....they put a bracelt on me too.....so exciting.

The nurse and Jaime's mom came out withbaby...I thought he would be in a bassinet....but the nurse was carrying him....I couldn't believe how cute he looked...honestly my first thought...oh good he definitely looks black....just because Jake kept saying he was going to look white or hispanic.

Went upstairs to newborn nursery...a small room full of newborns....soo cute! The weighed baby....8lbs 2.7 ounces...the nurse made sure I got a picture of him on the scale. She put him under the warmer and put the gel in his eyes.....I sat right beside him while she did his newborn assessment....it was so cool to see this side...of course no other moms are there for this part..cause they are in recovery...I took several pictures...nurse was nice....she took a picture of me giving Joshua his first bottle.....

Koshua got a bath and then got a hat. tshirt and the cutest little booties...definitely saving them..

I texted Jaime's mom his weight and length...she was dying to know how big he was...she stayed in recovery with Jaime...so happy she was there.
